GreenStar
is the offspring of Portland, Oregon based live pa/producer Adam Graff.
Mr. Graff has performed around Portland and elsewhere since the mid-late
90’s as a member of musical projects: ICD-9, P.A.N., FreQ-TranzMission,
Sleighted, and GreenStar. *
The GreenStar
sound is heavily influenced by the hypnotic poly-rhythms and grounding
bass of dub/reggae, as well as more recent variations/spin-offs including
dancehall, hip-hop, jungle, drum-n-bass, electro, etc. The sound is
minimal yet driving. Drum machine fury and mono-synth melodies hold
down waves of chaotic noise and echoed voices from beyond.
GreenStar
has performed as a live P.A. at many Portland area clubs and booze
drenched bassment parties. In addition GreenStar has made regular
trips to the Seattle area and occasional road trips to further destinations
in order to spread the word of melodic bass.
GreenStar
has released one collection of tracks, known as “GreenStar Underground”.
This wicked EP has rocked many a boom-box and car tape deck, with
its gritty jungle influenced sound. It was a definite “thriller”
for those lucky enough to get their hands on it. Also, GreenStar has
taken part in a limited release titled “GreenStar vs. Sleighted”,
a collaborative experiment with Bruce Brindmour and Billy Neenos,
members of the group Sleighted.
GreenStar’s
plans for the future are to stay alive and conscious, all the while
moving forward with head high and bass low. And to hopefully conjure
up some wicked rhythms and melodies along the way.
